About Oasis Community Church
Discover our story, mission, and the heart behind our community of faith
Our Story
Oasis Community Church was formed in October 2015 as a brand new pioneering outreach in the South Wales Valleys. Formerly attending a local pentecostal church, its leaders and congregation firmly believed God had directed them to “do something new” and they stood on His Word and began to meet weekly at Oasis Community Church in Trecynon, Aberdare.
The vision goes beyond doing church regularly and is tied inextricably with our outreach work. Oasis Church firmly believes that God is calling His people to break down barriers that have persisted for many, many years between the established church and the surrounding communities. Our primary focus is to reach and connect with the community while sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. “The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself in love”.
At Oasis, you will be loved, accepted and it is not presumptuous to say that you will be blessed beyond measure. God has done so much for us and we want to share the love of God with our community.
- OUR VISION
To be a church that lives by Faith, is known by Love and is a Voice of Hope in the community in which it worships.
- A GROWING FAMILY
Over 100 people call Oasis home, a welcoming community where faith grows, friendships form, and lives are changed by Jesus.
- FAITH IN ACTION
We love our community and serve it in practical ways, through the Oasis Pantry, Challenge Valleys, youth and children’s clubs, Ladies Coffee Morning and local support projects.
Together, we’re making God’s love visible every day.
Our Beliefs
What do we believe about...?

God
We believe in One Eternal God
who is the Creator of all things.
He exists in three Persons:
God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
He is totally loving and absolutely Holy.

Jesus
We believe sin has severed the connection between each of us and God, and separated us from His purpose for our lives.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, as both fully God and fully man, is the only one who can reconcile us to God.
He lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place and rose again to prove His victory and empower us for life.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming back to this world again as He promised.

The Holy Spirit
We believe that in order to live the holy
and fruitful lives that God intends for us,
we need to be baptised in water
and be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit enables us to use spiritual gifts including speaking in other tongues.

The Bible
We believe the Bible is God’s word. It is accurate, authoritative, unerring and applicable to our everyday lives.

Salvation
We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and re-establish a connection with God,
we must repent of our sins,
believe in the Lord Jesus Christ
and submit to His will for our lives.
We believe that our eternal destination of Heaven
or hell is determined by our response to
the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Church
We believe in the significance of the fellowship of believers as church together and that we should meet regularly for fellowship, prayer, teaching and the breaking of Bread.
We believe that God has individually equipped us so that we can successfully achieve His purpose for our lives which is to worship God, to serve Him by fulfilling our role in the Church and to serve the community in which we live.
In order to fulfil that role, we believe God wants to heal and transform us so that we can live in the fulness of life in order to help others more effectively.

Paul Jones
Leader
All by the grace of God, I’m privileged to be a husband, blessed to be a father and also honoured to be a grandfather.
I married my beautiful wife Cath way back in 1987 and throughout that time, we have been so thankful for the privilege of serving God together in various churches in Aberdare. We are also very grateful to the Lord that by His grace, both of our children are also actively involved in His work at Oasis Community Church in Aberdare.
Working for the Lord at Oasis has been the best experience of our lives and we have seen incredible growth with God transforming so many lives.

Matthew Harris
Leader
My name is Matthew Harris and I have been a Christian since April 1997. I have the absolute privilege of serving full time on the team at Oasis Community Church together with my wife Mel.
Mel and I have been married for more than 20 years, after meeting as staff members at Teen Challenge uk, a Christian drug and alcohol rehabilitation ministry.
We also have 3 lovely children, Bethan, Samuel and Joshua.
Part of our role within Oasis is to serve in the capacity of outreach. We also serve under the banner of Challenge Valleys which is an ‘addiction’ outreach ministry set up to supply support to anyone struggling with addiction and/or their families. As part of that support we help with referrals to Christian drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers for anyone in addiction serious about change.

Nathan Parmee
Leader
I am abundantly blessed to serve the Lord at Oasis Community Church, and I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support of my wife, Sophie Parmee, throughout my ministry. Even though I may seem young to be part of the leadership team at Oasis, I am extremely grateful and blessed that the opportunity to serve the Lord has come so early in my life.
I discovered God’s grace, for the first time in 2016 when I found my salvation in Jesus Christ. Since then I have been on a wonderful journey with God who has grown, challenged, stretched and developed me in so many ways which I never thought possible. BUT the God we serve can do immeasurably more than we can ever ask or imagine so although I know that there is a long road in front of me, I am looking forward with great joy to the challenge of growing and personal development in my relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
